Arundel Clocks has dated this piece to the 1890s.
I have for sale a beautiful fusee dial clock made in Birmingham for Swinden & Sons around 1880 also numbered I would date this clock to around 1880, with a mega rare 18” inch original dial in a solid honey oak wood case this would have cost mega money in the day.
The Case
The case is in solid honey oak wood and stands 59cm High and 20cm in depth.
The case is very old and has a few small age-related dings but you would have to look very closely to see they look great on the wall and so different.
To the top of the clock is the steel hanging bracket.
The Dial
The dial is in original condition 45.5 cm or 18” inches in old money across painted white with Roman numerals and covered by glass in a brass bezel.
The dial is signed Swinden & Sons Birmingham 32949.
The Movement
The movement is an eight-day time only it is a thick-plated built movement which I have fully serviced.
The original key is also stamped so everything original is still with the clock an amazing find.
Established in 1825. It is noted that many Swinden clocks were in schools, libraries and council offices. This example being numbered 32949 would have been in a public place.
