Antique French "Tortoiseshell" Mantle Clock

19th century
Description

A quite superb, antique red tortoiseshell serpentine shaped mantle clock with ormolu mounts, glass side view inset panels, brass dial with roman numerals in cartouche, brass frame door with side opening and key and cockerill pediment. Housing an 8 day movement numbered 2179 striking the hours and half hours on a small gong and stand. The backplate also bearing insignia for Vincenti 1855 medal. Fully serviced and guaranteed for 12 months. Later part of 19C. Height approx. 39 cms. [15.4 ins.] Detachable surmount.
