Early 18th Cent London Red Lacquer Longcase Clock

18th century
Description

A very attractive early 18th Cent longcase clock by John Shaw of Holborn, London. He is listed as working there in the early 18th Cent. It has a very decorative red lacquered case in typical oriental style.

The 8 day, 5 pillar movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a very smart brass dial. The dial has gilt brass spandrels, subsidiary seconds dial and working date indicator. The pillar arrangement is unusual in that the 5th pillar is mid-way down one side rather than in the more usual position between the barrels.

The case is basically 18th Cent and is in good overall condition but does have the add knock here and there. It has probably had some repainting at some time; possibly in the 1920’s however overall it is a most attractive clock.

The movement has been fully serviced and is guaranteed for 12 months from date of purchase.

The maximum dimensions are:

212cm (83.5“) high

49cm (19.5“) wide

25cm (10“) deep

Free local delivery and set-up (75mls), national and international delivery arranged at cost.
