FAQs

Delftware originated in the Netherlands during the 17th century, influenced heavily by imported Chinese porcelain brought by the Dutch East India Company.

Traditional pieces are fashioned from local clays, covered in a tin-lead glaze to create a white opaque surface, and hand-painted with cobalt blue pigments before being fired.

Authentic pieces often display minor glaze imperfections, hand-painted brushwork nuances, and period-specific makers marks on the underside, distinguishing them from modern reproductions.

These pieces function as striking focal points when paired with neutral colour palettes, natural wood textures, and understated linen lampshades to balance the intricate patterns.

Dust gently with a dry, soft microfiber cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners or submerging the wired ceramic body in water to protect both the glaze and electrical components.
