Georgian glass decanters typically feature hand-blown lead glass bodies, often with kick-up bases, triple-ring necks, and matching stoppers, frequently decorated with gilt enamel labels denoting the contents.

They were crafted from heavy lead crystal or potash glass, mouth-blown into molds or free-blown, and finished with hand-applied gilding or enamel painting for labelling spirits such as Hollands or port.

Authentic pieces exhibit pontil scars on the base, characteristic wear and micro-scratches consistent with age, hand-cut or ground stoppers unique to the bottle, and subtle bubbles or imperfections within the glass matrix.

Placing the decanter on a sideboard, bar cart, or open shelving introduces historic texture and reflective glass elements that contrast effectively with modern minimalist surfaces.

Antique glass should be washed by hand in lukewarm water with mild detergent, avoiding harsh abrasives and sudden temperature changes to protect the fragile glass and historic gilding.
