This late Victorian trinket box takes the form of a heavy, very pale pink cut lead crystal container with a fitted metal rim and a matching domed lid. The exterior displays deep geometric diamond-cut panels across the body, a starburst-carved pattern radiating from the centre of the lid, and a shaped brass collar fitted with a keyhole escutcheon. Wear to the collar reveals a two-tone finish where the original silver plating has rubbed, and the piece shows a couple of tiny rough spots to high points. Practical dimensions measure 10 cm high, 11 cm wide, and 11 cm deep. Placed upon a bedside table or dressing surface in a modern home, this lidded container provides a secure and tactile storage spot for small everyday jewellery and small keepsakes. The transparent crystal body catches surrounding light while the metallic collar adds a warm contrast to the pale pink tones of the glass.

During the late nineteenth century, cut crystal boxes were produced as luxury dressing table accessories designed to hold trinkets, cosmetics, or jewellery. These containers featured intricate wheel-cut geometric patterns and were frequently finished with fitted metal mounts.

Antique crystal caskets were manufactured from high-lead glass to achieve light refraction and weight. The glass bodies were hand-cut with diamond or starburst motifs and secured with nickel silver, brass, or sterling silver mounts and escutcheons.

Authentic pieces exhibit sharp, hand-cut facet edges, noticeable weight due to lead content, and subtle surface wear on the base. Metal mounts often show period-appropriate construction, solder marks, or hallmarks along the inner rim.

An antique crystal box serves as an accent piece on a bedroom dressing table, bathroom counter, or entrance console. It offers functional storage for rings or small items while reflecting light across polished surfaces.

Washing by hand in lukewarm water with mild liquid detergent is recommended, avoiding prolonged submersion of non-precious metal rims. Microfibre cloths should be used to dry the crystal and prevent water spots or oxidisation on metal fittings.
