Why Sellingantiques dated this piece to THE 1930s:
H&H stamp on the base: made by Birmingham makers Hukin and Heath.
Stepped concentric rings on the cover: architectural styling of the period.
Gilt wash inside the beaker: shields the metal from cocktail acid.
Fine surface marks across the silver plate: decades of gentle handling.

This is an independent date report produced by Sellingantiques using its own proprietary system. The process uses the photographs shown on this page. The system is never told the date the dealer has declared. This report shows that the two dates corroborate.

This Art Deco silver-plated cocktail shaker originates from circa 1930 and exemplifies the geometric design sensibilities of the period. The piece is formed from silver-plated electroplated nickel silver in a uniform silver colour with a polished metallic finish. Notable details visible in the photograph include a smooth tapered body, stepped shoulder rings formed by a series of concentric raised bands, reeded rims, and a fitted conical cap. The silver plate exhibits light surface wear consistent with age and gentle use. Measuring 23 cm high and 9 cm wide, this item is well-suited for display on a sideboard top in a dining room, living area, or home bar. It functions practically for mixing beverages while providing a decorative, architectural accent to interior settings.

Art Deco cocktail shakers typically feature streamlined geometric silhouettes, stepped motifs, and polished metal finishes reflecting the modernist aesthetic of the 1930s entertainment culture.

Vintage cocktail shakers were predominantly constructed from electroplated nickel silver (EPNS), sterling silver, or chrome-plated metal to ensure durability and a reflective metallic finish.

Authentic pieces often bear manufacturer hallmarks or makers marks, such as EPNS stamps, along with characteristic geometric proportions and period-correct stepped or reeded rim details.

A silver-plated cocktail shaker can be displayed on a bar cart, a dining room sideboard top, or a tray alongside glassware to create a vintage barware focal point.

Silver-plated items should be polished gently with a soft cloth and specialised silver cream, avoiding abrasive cleaners that could wear down the electroplated layer.
