We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Gothic Revival two-part bookcase is constructed from golden brown satinwood with solid mahogany linings. The upper section has a stepped cornice and two glazed doors containing carved Gothic tracery, opening to reveal adjustable shelves. The lower section incorporates a full-width drawer above two panelled cupboard doors with fielded panels and further Gothic tracery details, standing on a plinth base and fitted with working Chubb locks. The piece measures 203 cm high, 117 cm wide, and 51 cm deep. This substantial display cabinet suits a traditional study, library, or living room. It provides versatile storage and display space for books, collections, or tableware behind glass doors, while keeping other items neatly concealed in the lower cupboards. The warm timber tones and architectural details complement period and transitional interiors alike.

Gothic Revival furniture from the 19th century incorporates medieval architectural elements such as pointed arches, carved tracery mouldings, and trefoil motifs into domestic cabinetry and seating.

These pieces were constructed using fine cabinet woods such as satinwood, oak, or mahogany, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and mouth-blown glass panels.

Look for crisp hand-carved tracery mouldings, original brass drop handles or locks, authentic hand-planed backboards, and natural ageing along the wooden surfaces and timber joints.

A Gothic Revival bookcase serves as a structural focal point in a neutral space, pairing well with contemporary minimalist furniture, clean lines, and neutral textiles to balance the historic detail.

Maintain satinwood by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a thin coat of high-quality beeswax periodically, keeping the item away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber movement or fading.
