This Georgian period wine glass originates from 18th-century England during the reign of King George III. The piece takes the form of a clear lead glass drinking vessel with a bell-shaped bowl, a multi-spiral air twist stem containing three distinct swelling knops, and a conical foot. The clear material displays a smooth finish with no chips, cracks or restoration. The height measures 17.4 cm, the bowl diameter is 5.8 cm, the foot diameter measures 7.2 cm, and the weight is 152 grams. The item serves as functional glassware suited for display on a sideboard top within a gentleman's library setting. It provides a tactile connection to historical English glassmaking traditions for contemporary collectors and table settings.

A Georgian air twist wine glass is an 18th-century English drinking vessel defined by decorative spiral air channels encapsulated within its glass stem. Introduced around the mid-18th century, these glasses reflect the refined craftsmanship and heavy lead glass formulations of the era.

Georgian glassware was constructed primarily using English lead crystal, known for its clarity and weight. The air twist motif was achieved by creating symmetry with drawn air pockets inside a molten glass rod, which was then extended and twisted prior to attaching the bowl and foot.

Authentic 18th-century air twist stemware typically exhibits a pontil mark on the underside of the conical foot, slight hand-blown asymmetry, and characteristic age-appropriate wear to the base. The weight of the lead glass and the depth of the internal twist spiral also distinguish original pieces from modern reproductions.

Antique stemware can be displayed on a dark wood sideboard, inside a illuminated glazed cabinet, or alongside period literature on a library bookshelf. Combining delicate glassware with structured architectural accents creates visual balance in contemporary spaces.

Antique lead glass should be hand-washed individually in lukewarm water using mild dish soap and a soft cloth. Dishwashers and extreme temperature shifts must be avoided to prevent thermal shock, clouding, or fracturing.
