Why Sellingantiques dated this piece to THE REGENCY ERA:
Turned legs on brass cup castors: typical of early 19th-century furniture.
Brass beading below the seat: a common Regency decorative detail.
Finished mahogany back panel: designed to stand away from a wall.
Concentric ring decoration on the brass knobs.
Wear and cracking to the leather: consistent with long use.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Regency mahogany duet window stool exemplifies the grand Regency style, constructed from rich warm brown timber paired with a dark brown leather upholstered seat. The rectangular top sits above a frieze adorned with brass banding along the upper edge and two fitted drawers on the front. Each drawer operates with a small round brass knob handle, complemented by turned legs and brass cup castors at the base. The wood displays a polished finish with visible natural grain variations across the surfaces. The practical dimensions are 52 cm high by 91 cm wide by 38 cm depth. Suitable for placement at the foot of a bed or positioned near a window, this antique stool provides functional seating while introducing traditional character to a room. The combination of timber, leather, and metal hardware suits classic interiors, functioning as a practical seat or a low surface within a bedroom, living space, or study.

FAQs

Originating in early nineteenth-century Britain, a Regency duet window stool is a wide upholstered bench designed to accommodate two people, often placed within window bays or beside pianos, featuring integrated storage drawers.

These stools were typically built using solid mahogany or rosewood timber, featuring brass hardware fittings, castors, and upholstered tops covered in leather or woven textiles.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-dovetailed drawer joinery, period-correct brass castors, turned wooden legs with natural wear, and proportional early nineteenth-century timber framing.

Position the stool at the foot of a bed, beneath a window recess, or within an entrance hall to introduce historic structure, practical seating, and targeted storage.

Maintain timber elements by applying natural beeswax polish with a soft cloth, treat leather surfaces with dedicated conditioners, and avoid placing the item near direct heat sources.
