This Edwardian set comprises four round buttons and a matching belt buckle made from solid sterling silver with a bright silver finish. Cast with a pierced wild English rose design, the buttons incorporate additional shamrock and thistle motifs, and the buckle measures 10 cm by 5.1 cm with the buttons measuring 2.6 cm across. The pieces sit nestled in a fitted oval case featuring an exterior bound in red leatherette, a hinged brass latch, and an interior lined in crimson velvet and satin. Dating from 1902 and bearing hallmarks for London with the maker's mark of Samuel Jacob, the entire ensemble survives in clean condition free from dings, splits, or repairs, showing only minor scuffs to the exterior casing. This collector's group functions today as a display piece or vanity accessory kept within a collection of historical silverwork, or incorporated into period costume design.

During the Edwardian era (19011910), tailored ladies attire often incorporated decorative silver belt buckles and matching buttons. These items were frequently sold in fitted velvet or silk-lined presentation cases as luxury gift sets.

Authentic items from this era were primarily crafted from solid sterling silver (925 fineness) or fine silver plate, using techniques such as casting, piercing, and repousse engraving. Presentation cases were constructed from wood or card covered in leatherette and lined with silk or plush velvet.

British sterling silver from 1902 carries a full set of official hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for sterling purity, an assay office symbol (such as the Chester coat of arms or Birmingham anchor), a specific date letter, and a makers mark.

These historical sets are commonly displayed open inside glazed shadow-box frames or arranged within velvet-lined glass tabletop vitrines to protect the silver while showcasing the metalwork.

Silver pieces should be gently wiped with a dry, soft silver-impregnated polishing cloth to remove tarnish. Liquid chemical dips and abrasive pastes should be avoided, as they can alter the intentional oxidisation in the recessed details.
