This Edwardian sterling silver strut mirror dates to the 1900 period and reflects an English Country House aesthetic. The rectangular table mirror measures 25cm by 19cm overall, holding a bevelled mirror glass measuring 20.25cm by 15.25cm. The silver frame displays a fluted gadrooned border, a shaped crest featuring a central circular boss, and corner joints. The glass exhibits minor foxing and light scratches, while one pin nail securing the silver to the back is missing. The piece is supported by an easel back stand with a replacement ribbon holding the arm in position, and bears full hallmarks including the F.M&S maker mark, Birmingham assay office mark, lion passant, and the date letter for 1902. This silver dressing table mirror suits placement on a sideboard top or dressing table in a bedroom or hallway, providing both a functional looking glass and a decorative accessory for daily use.

An Edwardian silver strut mirror is a small tabletop mirror crafted between 1901 and 1910, featuring a sterling silver border mounted on a wooden or card backing with a hinged leg or strut that allows it to stand freely on a dressing table or vanity.

These pieces typically consist of a stamped or repousse sterling silver face, a bevelled glass mirror plate, and a fabric-covered backing, usually velvet or leatherette, with an integrated folding support leg.

Authentic British examples feature a set of silver hallmarks including a makers mark, town mark, lion passant for sterling quality, and a date letter corresponding to the Edwardian period.

Place the mirror on a contemporary dressing table, bedroom chest of drawers, or hallway console table to add light reflectivity and a metallic accent alongside modern ceramic accessories.

Dust the frame regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and clean the silver sparingly using a dedicated silver polishing cloth, taking care not to let liquid silver polish seep into the fabric backing or behind the mirror glass.
