Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Queen Anne style bookcase dates from 1930 and is constructed in England from burr walnut with a warm brown finish. The glazed front features twin doors with arched glazing bars, glass shelving, and a plinth base standing on bracket feet. The exterior displays distinctive grain patterns across the timber surfaces, complemented by a keyhole escutcheon on the right door stile. At 112 cm high, 90 cm wide, and 30 cm deep, the unit provides compact display shelving with adjustable interior glass shelves behind glazed panels. In a modern interior, this piece suits placement in a living room, study, or hallway for the display of books, ceramics, or decorative objects. The narrow depth allows for positioning in restricted spaces while offering functional storage behind glazed doors. The polished timber surfaces integrate easily into traditional or transitional home settings alongside other wooden furniture.

FAQs

Queen Anne style walnut furniture is known for its emphasis on line, form, and natural wood figuration rather than heavy carving. Popularised in the early eighteenth century, pieces frequently feature burr walnut veneers, gentle arch designs, cabriole legs, and understated proportions.

These bookcases typically feature a solid timber frame faced with highly figured burr walnut veneers, clear glass panel inserts, internal wooden or glass shelving, and solid brass hardware such as escutcheons and hinges.

Authentic period pieces display subtle irregularities in the veneer thickness, evidence of hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers or frames, original oak or pine secondary woods on back panels, and natural patina developed over decades.

A low glazed cabinet functions well in a modern setting when contrasted against muted wall tones, styled with contemporary art placed above the surface, and used to house modern ceramics, glassware, or curated literature.

Maintain burr walnut pieces by keeping them away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent veneer drying or fading. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year to nourish the timber finish.
