We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Imari porcelain originates from the town of Arita in the Hizen province of Japan, exported extensively to Europe from the port of Imari during the Edo period starting in the late 17th century.

Imari pieces are crafted from high-fired white porcelain clay, traditionally decorated with underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze iron red, complemented by gilt highlights.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit age-related wear on the foot rim, subtle hand-painted brushwork irregularities, a heavy unrefined body, and characteristic iron-red and cobalt-blue palettes under a clear glaze.

These decorative plates can be mounted on walls as focal art pieces, displayed upright on plate stands on sideboards, or incorporated into curated tablescapes to add global colour and historic texture.

Antique porcelain should be washed by hand using mild soap and tepid water, avoiding abrasive sponges, harsh chemicals, and dishwasher cycles to protect the fragile overglaze enamels and gilding.
