Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century English country kitchen dresser comes in solid pine with a sage green painted finish. The piece stands 220 cm high, 164 cm wide, and 50 cm deep, offering substantial storage across two sections. The upper cabinet features a moulded cornice, three glazed doors with small round wooden knobs, and internal shelving with a pale interior. Below, the base cabinet presents three panelled doors equipped with similar turned wooden knobs and matching moulding details. Natural wear on the paintwork reveals hints of the underlying timber along the edges and corners, showing signs of authentic age. In a modern home, this rustic farmhouse storage unit works well in a kitchen or dining room for displaying tableware and storing kitchenware. The upper glazed section suits the presentation of ceramic collections or glassware, while the enclosed lower cupboards conceal everyday items out of sight. The tall profile makes practical use of vertical wall space, bringing traditional character and utility to country-style interiors.

FAQs

An English kitchen dresser is a traditional storage unit comprising a sideboard base and an upper display section, historically used in country homes to store tableware, linens, and pantry supplies.

These dressers were typically crafted from sturdy woods such as pine or oak, fitted with glass panelling on the upper doors, and finished with durable oil-based or milk paints.

Authentic pieces often feature period-appropriate joinery like hand-cut dovetails, original timber knobs or brass latches, subtle irregularities in glass panes, and genuine surface wear along high-touch areas.

Display contemporary ceramic dinnerware or glassware inside the glazed upper cabinets to create an attractive visual contrast against the muted, aged painted finish.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft, dry lint-free cloth, avoiding harsh liquid cleaners, and keeping the piece away from direct heat sources to preserve the timber and paint layer.
