An Art Deco powder compact made from sterling silver and vibrant lilac celluloid dates from the 1920 period. The circular object displays a sunburst engine-turned pattern across the hinged cover, complemented by assay hallmarks on the silver body. Inside, a fitted receptacle holds a removable powder attachment, accompanied by the original mirror and a gilt interior. The back remains plain with minor dints, while the celluloid inset presents a clean appearance and the lid closes securely. Measuring 0.7 cm high, 5 cm wide, and 5 cm deep, the compact suits placement on a bedside table in a contemporary bedroom. Collectors and enthusiasts of vintage vanity accessories utilise such items for display or dressing table organisation. The piece accommodates daily use as a small storage container or functions as a decorative tabletop accessory within a bedroom interior, aligning with period styling and historical collecting interests.

Art Deco vanity items from the 1920s are characterised by geometric symmetry, vivid colour contrasts, and precise surface decoration techniques such as engine turning and guilloche detailing.

Silver compacts from this era were typically constructed from hallmarked sterling silver, frequently paired with celluloid inserts, vitreous enamel, or engine-turned patterns to apply colour to the metal casing.

Authentic British silver pieces feature official assay hallmarks, including a town mark such as an anchor for Birmingham, a makers mark, a fineness mark, and a date letter denoting the year of manufacture.

An antique compact can be styled atop a mirrored dressing table tray, integrated into a bathroom vanity display, or arranged inside a glass cabinet alongside period personal accessories.

Silver surfaces should be buffed gently with a soft microfibre cloth intended for silver, ensuring liquid polishes and abrasive chemicals do not come into contact with celluloid components or internal mirrors.
