We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This matching pair of Arts and Crafts chambersticks, dating to 1900, comprises two polished brass candleholders finished in a rich gold colour. Each piece exhibits a circular dished saucer base with a stepped conical centre, a cylindrical stem, and a wide drip rim at the top secured by small rivets around the candle sconce. An angular loop handle with a lower thumb ring attaches to the side of each stem and the edge of the base, complemented by visible riveted construction around the perimeter of the base. Measuring 18 cm high, 21.5 cm wide, and 19 cm deep, these chambersticks suit placement on a mantelpiece to bring traditional English Country House character into an interior. They provide both decorative appeal and functional illumination when holding taper candles during evening gatherings or quiet moments at home.

Arts and Crafts brassware emphasizes clean structural forms, simple geometric proportions, and visible hand-crafted construction elements rather than excessive ornate casting.

Chambersticks were predominantly constructed from sheet brass or cast brass, featuring soldered joints, turned central stems, and wide dished bases designed to catch dripping wax.

Authentic period examples often display slight hand-finishing irregularities, original solder seams beneath the base, appropriate wear patterns on handle contact points, and unpolished oxidisation in recessed crevices.

Style a matching pair symmetrically on a fireplace mantelpiece, or position a single piece alongside stacked art books on a bedside table or console sideboard.

Remove wax residue by soaking the metal in warm water, then gently clean using a soft microfibre cloth and specialized brass polish, avoiding harsh abrasive scrubbers that scratch the surface.
