This set of six Victorian wine glasses dates from around 1870 and displays the traditional English country house style. Each piece combines deep cranberry red glass bowls with clear, facet-cut baluster stems and starburst-cut cranberry feet. The circular bowls are paired with slice-cut stems featuring faceted balls, showing clean edges and high-quality craftsmanship throughout. Every glass stands 14 cm high, 7 cm wide, and 7 cm deep, creating a balanced and comfortable proportion for handling. They suit everyday dining use or special occasions, and work well displayed on a sideboard top in a traditional dining room or living space. The set brings a vibrant splash of colour to a table setting, offering both practical utility and historical charm for collectors of period glassware.

Cranberry glass gained widespread popularity during the Victorian era in the nineteenth century. Glassmakers produced the distinctive pink-red shade by fusing gold chloride into molten glass, creating stemware and decorative table accessories.

The primary material is lead or soda-lime glass combined with trace amounts of gold oxide. Stems and bases were frequently crafted from clear lead crystal to contrast with the coloured hand-blown bowls.

Authentic period pieces often feature subtle hand-blown irregularities, ground pontil marks on the underside, and clear glass joins where the stem meets the bowl. The cranberry coloration should show slight natural gradient variations rather than uniform modern coating.

Display these stemware pieces on a glass bar cart, open kitchen shelving, or a dark wood sideboard to highlight the red tones. They can also serve as accent glass stemware on contemporary dining tables alongside neutral linens.

Hand wash each glass individually in warm water using a mild liquid detergent and a non-abrasive soft cloth. Avoid dishwashers and sudden water temperature changes, which can induce thermal shock and fracture historic glass.
