Late 18th century English glassware is characterised by blown and moulded techniques, often featuring light ribbing, fluting, or reticulated patterns with pontil marks on the base.

These vessels were typically hand-blown using lead glass or soda-lime glass, often utilizing dip-moulding or pattern-moulding techniques to create surface textures before being hand-finished with applied handles.

Authentic pieces often exhibit characteristic manufacturing traits such as rough snapped pontil marks, surface wear consistent with age, minor air bubbles within the metal, and slight irregularities in symmetry.

An antique glass jug can be utilized as a small vase for single stems on a bookshelf or displayed within a glass-fronted cabinet to highlight its historic texture and reflective qualities.

Antique glass should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using a mild, non-abrasive detergent and dried with a soft, lint-free cloth, avoiding ultrasonic cleaners and extreme temperature changes.
