Victorian tea canisters were utilised in the 19th century to store valuable loose tea leaves securely, often featuring ornate repousse and chased designs popular during the period.

These pieces were typically constructed from sterling silver or silver plate, utilizing techniques such as hand-hammering, repousse, chasing, and beaded border soldering.

Authenticity is determined by examining hallmarks, makers marks, metal weight, age-appropriate patina, and the specific manufacturing techniques characteristic of 19th-century silversmithing.

Place the canister on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or open bookshelf to introduce metallic texture, historical depth, and refined elegance into contemporary spaces.

Maintain antique silver by storing it in low-humidity environments, dusting it regularly with a soft microfibre cloth, and polishing sparingly with specialised silver cream to preserve the underlying details.
