Description

A beautifully matched pair of 1930s pine bedside cupboards, each featuring an elegant marble top, a drawer, an open cubby, and a lower cupboard with an internal shelf. Designed with opposing doors, making them ideal for placement on either side of a bed.

The marble tops show some minor blemishes typical of their age. While I usually bleach them, complete removal of marks from vintage marble can be difficult.

Overall, they’re in good condition for their age. Available as-is for £360, or professionally waxed for £415 (for the pair).

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Marble-topped pine cabinets became popular in the 19th century as hygienic and durable bedside furniture, offering a cool, waterproof surface for jugs, washbasins, and night-time essentials.

These pieces typically combine solid softwood pine carcasses with polished slab marble tops, often complemented by turned wooden or brass handles and mortise and tenon joinery.

Authenticity is identified through hand-cut dovetail joints, tool marks from traditional woodworking, natural timber ageing, and iron or brass hardware appropriate to the period.

They provide a tactile contrast in contemporary bedrooms, pairing well with minimalist linens, neutral walls, and modern lighting to ground the space with organic texture.

Clean the pine periodically with a soft cloth and beeswax polish, while treating the marble top with a neutral stone cleaner to prevent staining and etching from liquids.
