Balustroid wine glasses feature stems inspired by architectural balusters, typically produced during the 18th century as glass manufacturing evolved following the introduction of lead crystal.

These pieces were crafted from heavy lead glass using free-blown and tool-formed methods, often characterised by thick walls, baluster or knop stems, and folded feet for added rim stability.

Authenticity is indicated by characteristic manufacturing traits such as pontil marks on the underside, inclusions or air bubbles within the metal, wear scratches from age, and the distinctive weight of lead glass.

Antique stemware can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets or styled as decorative accents on open shelving, bringing historical texture and refined craftsmanship to contemporary spaces.

Historical glass requires careful hand washing in tepid water using mild soap, avoiding harsh chemicals, sudden temperature changes, and abrasive sponges to preserve the delicate surface.
