Light baluster wine glasses typically feature slender stems with simplified knops, emerging during the mid-18th century as glass production techniques advanced and taxes on glass weight shifted.

These pieces were crafted from heavy lead glass, often referred to as flint glass, and were hand-blown and shaped by skilled artisans before receiving hand-engraved or faceted decoration.

Authenticity is indicated by the presence of a pontil mark on the underside of the foot, surface wear consistent with age, minor bubbles or striations within the metal, and traditional baluster stem formations.

Antique stemware is best displayed within a glass-fronted cabinet or utilized as a curated focal point on a sideboard, integrating historical craftsmanship into contemporary spaces.

Antique glass should be washed strictly by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive materials to protect the delicate surface and engraving.
