Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Victorian seating is characterised by a revival of historic styles, solid timber construction, and functional yet ornate designs that reflected the industrial manufacturing capabilities of the 19th century.

Authentic period pieces were typically built using dense hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut, paired with genuine leather or woven textiles for upholstery, often secured with brass tacks.

Authentication involves examining joinery methods, such as hand-cut dovetails or traditional pegging, checking for natural wear patterns on timber and leather, and identifying period-appropriate hardware and upholstery techniques.

This piece can serve as a functional accent near a sofa or at the foot of a bed, adding warmth and texture while bridging contemporary and traditional design aesthetics.

Preservation requires keeping the item away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber cracking, alongside regular conditioning of the leather using specialist balms to maintain flexibility.
