FAQs

A Heemskirk candlestick is a distinct style of Dutch or English brass candle holder originating in the 17th century, characterised by a central drip pan and a multi-baluster stem.

These items were traditionally cast in brass using sand-casting or lost-wax techniques, often in multiple sections that were then joined or threaded together.

Authentic period pieces typically feature casting flaws, hand-file marks, uneven patination, and heavy construction consistent with early metalworking techniques.

It can be placed on a mantelpiece or bookshelf as a focal sculptural object, contrasting effectively against modern minimalist surfaces.

Preserve the original patination by avoiding harsh chemical polishes; instead, gently dust with a soft cloth and apply microcrystalline wax for protection if necessary.
