A rummer is a large, sturdy drinking glass that became popular in Britain during the late 18th and 19th centuries, primarily used for serving rum, beer, wine, or punch.

These vessels were typically hand-blown from lead glass or flint glass, featuring thick walls and a short stem to withstand robust daily use in taverns and homes.

Authentic pieces often display pontil marks on the base, minor surface irregularities from hand-blowing, and period-appropriate hand-engraved motifs such as crests or florals.

Displaying historical glassware within glazed cabinets or on open shelving adds tactile depth, historical contrast, and refined elegance to traditional or contemporary interiors.

Wash antique glass gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding harsh abrasives, ultrasonic cleaners, and sudden temperature shifts to prevent thermal shock.
