The Edwardian period spans from 1901 to 1910, characterised by lighter, more delicate designs often drawing inspiration from eighteenth-century motifs like Louis XVI, garlands, and ribbon work.

Edwardian serving pieces were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, typically bearing a standard fineness mark of 925, and occasionally featured mechanisms made with steel springs for tension.

Authentic pieces carry British hallmarks consisting of a makers mark, the lion passant indicating sterling standard, a city assay office mark, and a date letter specific to the year of manufacture.

Antique silver can be displayed on sideboards or within glazed cabinets to introduce reflective metallic textures that contrast against modern minimalist or traditional backdrops.

Sterling silver should be cleaned using a non-abrasive silver cloth or specialized polish to remove tarnish without wearing down the hallmark stamps or delicate surface piercing.
