Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency miniature chests date from the early 19th century and were often crafted as apprentice pieces, salesman samples to demonstrate woodworking skill to prospective clients, or bespoke dollhouse furniture for affluent children.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid mahogany or pine with fine mahogany veneers, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers and turned wooden knobs, reflecting the high standards of cabinet makers of the period.

Authenticity is determined by inspecting the secondary timbers (such as oak or pine used in drawer linings), hand-cut dovetails, traditional shellac polish, and natural ageing signs like timber shrinkage and oxidation.

A miniature chest can be placed on top of a larger sideboard, desk, or mantelpiece to add architectural interest, warmth of timber, and practical surface-level storage for small items like keys or jewellery.

Maintain antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking, and nourish the wood periodically using traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
