Art Nouveau glass is characterised by organic forms, flowing lines, and iridescent finishes inspired by natural phenomena, heavily prevalent in European manufacturing during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Artisans typically used blown glass treated with metallic salt vapours while hot to produce an iridescent, shimmering surface sheen, often combined with applied molten glass details or mould-blown textures.

Authentic pieces are generally identified through specific manufacturing traits such as pontil marks on the base, characteristic colour palettes, specific mould patterns like Martele texturising, and historical maker signatures where applicable.

Antique glass pieces serve as focal points when displayed on surfaces with neutral backdrops, allowing natural light to highlight their reflective qualities and iridescent surface colours.

Preservation requires gentle hand washing with lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding abrasive materials or harsh chemicals that can damage delicate iridescent surface treatments.
