Early 20th-century cabinetry typically prioritises utility and sturdy construction, often featuring clean lines and minimal ornamentation compared to Victorian predecessors.

Solid quarter-sawn or plain-sawn oak was predominantly used for its durability and distinctive grain patterns, often paired with brass or bronze hardware.

Authenticity is generally identified through traditional joinery techniques, timber oxidisation, natural wear patterns, and period-appropriate hardware such as flush brass pulls.

Pairing the natural warmth of oak with minimalist modern decor creates a balanced, textural contrast that grounds contemporary spaces.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a dry cloth and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the wood without building up heavy chemical residues.
