Edwardian cake stands emerged during the early 20th century, a period defined by elaborate afternoon tea rituals and sophisticated social gatherings in British households.

These pieces were typically constructed using a base metal such as brass, copper, or nickel silver, which was then coated with a layer of pure silver using electroplating techniques.

Authentic items often feature period manufacturer hallmarks, traditional electroplate stamps, and signs of genuine wear and patination consistent with early 20th-century craftsmanship.

This piece can be integrated into modern dining or living spaces as a decorative centrepiece, utilised for displaying seasonal items, or kept functional for traditional afternoon tea presentations.

Maintain silver-plated items by cleaning them gently with a non-abrasive silver polish, washing in warm soapy water, and storing them in dry conditions to prevent tarnishing.
