A rummer is a heavy type of drinking glass that emerged in Britain during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, typically used for serving ale, wine, or punch.

These vessels were traditionally handcrafted from lead glass, which provided weight, clarity, and resonance, often shaped using free-blown or mould-blown techniques before being hand-finished.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base, minor surface imperfections, variations in thickness, and hand-engraved detailing characteristic of early 19th-century craftsmanship.

It can be displayed inside a glass-fronted cabinet, used as a stem vase for small floral arrangements, or styled on an open shelf to catch natural light.

Wash by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive materials to protect the delicate surface and historic structure.
