This Edwardian set of four antique vases dates from around 1910 in an English Country House style. Each vessel is formed from silver-plated metal with a polished silver colour finish. The design incorporates tall trumpet rims with scalloped edges, narrow fluted stems, and flared stepped square bases. Visible details include smooth reflective surfaces, vertical fluting along the bodies, and undulating top borders, with original plating showing no wear. Each vase stands at a height of 55 cm, with practical proportions for display. In a contemporary home, these decorative vessels suit placement as a dining table centrepiece for floral arrangements, or for styling upon sideboards and mantelpieces within living spaces. They function effectively together as a matched grouping or divided into smaller pairs across different rooms.

Produced predominantly between 1901 and 1910, these vases feature tall, slender stems flaring out into scalloped or wavy rims, inspired by trumpet blossoms and Art Nouveau lines. They were popular for dining table displays during the Edwardian era.

These items were typically manufactured using electroplated nickel silver (EPNS) or electroplated britannia metal (EPBM), where a layer of pure silver was electrochemically deposited onto a durable base metal core.

Look for maker marks stamped near the base or rim, such as EPNS or specific manufacturer initials. Period pieces often feature weighted bases filled with resin or lead to maintain stability for long-stemmed flowers.

Arrange them as a linear group along a dining table or sideboard to add vertical symmetry. Their reflective surfaces complement minimalist floral arrangements, such as single-stem blooms or foliage.

Clean gently using a soft cloth and non-abrasive silver polish to remove tarnish without stripping the silver plating. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners and dry thoroughly after washing to prevent water spots and oxidisation.
