A Victorian silver vanity pot is a small lidded container used during the 19th century on dressing tables to hold powders, creams, pins, or small trinkets.

These items are crafted from sterling silver, indicated by hallmarks that usually include the makers mark, the lion passant for sterling standard, the city assay office mark, and a date letter.

Authenticity is verified by checking for crisp, indented hallmarks matching known silversmiths and assay offices, alongside natural patina and manufacturing techniques consistent with the late 19th century.

Such pieces can be displayed on a dressing table, bathroom counter, or open shelf to add a reflective metallic accent and functional storage for small items.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can strip the desirable aged patina.
