FAQs

A Dutch-Flemish style chandelier is a historic lighting design characterised by a central baluster shaft, radiating scrolled arms, and lower pendant globes, originally inspired by 17th-century European prototypes.

These fixtures are traditionally cast and spun from solid brass, featuring heavy metal components, drip pans, and candle-form sockets designed to replicate historic wax tapers.

Authentication involves examining the casting marks, patination, weight of the brass components, hand-threaded assembly screws, and the specific wiring type used in early electrification.

This fixture can be integrated into modern spaces to provide a focal point of metallic warmth, contrasting effectively against minimalist walls or traditional timber framing.

Cleaning requires dusting with a soft, dry cloth and avoiding harsh chemical polishes that strip the natural historic patination and oxidisation from the brass surface.
