FAQs

Imari porcelain is a type of Japanese export porcelain produced in the town of Arita and shipped from the port of Imari, dating back to the Edo period in the early 17th century.

Imari ware is traditionally crafted from high-fired porcelain and is characterised by a distinctive palette of underglaze cobalt blue and iron red, frequently accented with gilt details.

Authentic antique pieces typically display hand-painted motifs under a glossy glaze, slight imperfections consistent with historical hand-crafting techniques, and unglazed foot rims showing aged clay body characteristics.

These lamps can serve as statement accent pieces on sideboards or consoles, introducing rich colour, pattern, and historical contrast to modern minimalist or eclectic spaces.

Dust gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid using chemical cleaners or submerging the ceramic base in water to protect the delicate hand-painted glaze and gilt ornamentation.
