Cross Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The good quality movement has 5 finned and knopped pillars. It has an attractive brass dial with silvered chapter ring and gilt spandrels. It also has a nice set of original brass cased weights.
The case is, however, later, reputably made around 1940.
Being 80 odd years old it has developed a lovely mellow colour and from 6 feet would be difficult to tell from an 18th cent original.

The movement is in good working order and keeping good time.
The case is in excellent condition and is a lovely mellow colour.
