Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Imari porcelain originates from the Arita region of Japan, historically exported through the port of Imari. It is characterised by its distinctive underglaze blue and overglaze enamel decoration, typically featuring iron-red, orange, and gold accents on floral or figurative motifs.

These lamps feature hand-painted porcelain or ceramic bodies fitted with cast brass or bronze mounts at the base and neck. Restored examples incorporate electrical fittings, brass socket assemblies, and pleated silk or fabric shades.

Authentic 19th-century pieces display slight irregularities in glaze texture, deep cobalt blue underglaze decoration, and surface wear to hand-gilded details. The underside may show unglazed foot rims, potting marks, or character signatures typical of Late Edo or Meiji era craftsmanship.

A porcelain vase lamp can be positioned on a sideboard, console, or side table to serve as a focal point. Combining traditional patterned ceramics with neutral, clean-lined furnishings balances classical patterns with contemporary aesthetics.

Clean the porcelain base using a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that could damage overglaze enamels or gilding. Metal components should be gently wiped clean, while electrical wiring should be inspected periodically by a qualified electrician.
