Loetz was a prominent Austrian glassworks based in Klostermuhle during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, renowned for producing distinctive iridescent art glass during the Art Nouveau period.

Loetz Papillon glass is crafted from blown glass embedded with metallic oxides while molten to create a shimmering, iridescent surface texture reminiscent of butterfly wings.

Authentic pieces often feature characteristic pontil marks on the base, distinctive organic forms, and specific iridescent sheens, though many early pieces remain unsigned or carry acid-etched factory marks.

These decorative bowls can be displayed on a sideboard or open shelving where natural light can accentuate the iridescent glaze and metallic surface properties.

Antique glass should be hand washed gently in lukewarm water using mild detergent and dried with a soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals, abrasive sponges, and prolonged direct sunlight.
