Masons Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The clock strikes on the quarters and the hour, playing the Westminster tune.
The arched brass dial has a silvered chapter ring with engraved black Roman numerals, silvered and engraved centre, and a subsidiary seconds dial. It has a STRIKE/SILENT dial to the arch.
The clock is signed "ISAAC NICKALS. WELLS". He is recorded in Loomes "Clockmakers of the World" as working in Wells, Somerset, in 1730.
The oak case is nicely polished with a full length door and an arched hood having reeded pillars and brass Doric capitals. There are three original ball and spire finials to the top.
The very substantial 3 train movement has just been fully overhauled by our BHI registered staff and carries our usual 12mths full parts and labour guarantee.
A quite unique find.
