Regency Mahogany Regulator Longcase Clock

19th century
Description

A Regency Regulator by Molyneux, London.

The case is in very well figured mahogany with architectural pediment over canted front angles and a silvered sight-ring, the long glazed trunk door flanked by canted angles and a panel base.

The very good quality 8 day movement has a 12" signed silvered circular dial with Arabic outer minute track and large subsidiary dials for running seconds and hours all with blued steel hands.

The movement has thick plates united by four knopped pillars, pinned to the front and screwed to the rear. The entire train with wheels of six crossings and high-count pinions, Harrison's maintaining power and a deadbeat escapement with fine-screw adjustment. The wooden rod pendulum has very heavy lenticular brass-faced bob and the clock is driven by a small brass-covered weight.

The case is now in excelent condition, a few minor defects seen in the main picture (tips of the pedement and the plinth) have now been rectified. As you would expect it is keeping good time.

Free local delivery (100mls), national and international delivery arranged at cost.
