Arundel Clocks has dated this piece to the 1880s.
I have for sale a French striking and repeating carriage clock made in France around 1870;s simply stunning brass chased mask housing the dial with Roman numerals striking on a gong has been fully restored with new springs all screws and the gong re-blued in stunning condition.
The clock is in a fully engraved case and made by Alfred Drocourt.
The Case
The case is in solid shiny brass fully engraved and stands 18cm high x 9cm wide with a depth of 8cm it is in perfect condition with mint thick 3mm beveled sides/front/ and top viewing glass.
The case is very shiny and hard to photograph they do not do the clock justice at all.
The Dial
The dial is in original condition in white porcelain with Roman numerals, the dial is set in a stunning gilded engraved mask which sets this clock apart from others, the clock has very fine original black moon hands, and the alarm dial to the bottom.
The Movement
The movement is an eight-day time and strike which strikes the hours via a small sweet gong to the rear and also has the repeater button on top to repeat the last hour strike, plus a fully working alarm, the movement has been serviced and oiled so keeping a great time over the eight days and has the bonus of a new platform escapement.
The movement has been fully serviced and is running very strong.
The movement back plate is signed DC.
The original base plate is still intact.
The movement contains Geneva stop work to save over winding only found on the best of the best.
Overall a very beautiful quality carriage clock by a top quality French maker that looks stunning on display and contains all of its original features this is quite a rare find these days.
