English Lantern Clock Case Around 1780 Double Fusee Movement Charles Raymond of Lydeway

19th century
Description

Hi

I have for sale a rare striking double fusee lantern clock cycle 1780s English lantern clock made in England by Charles Raymond of Lydeway this is one of the best I have ever seen a large mega heavy example of English workmanship from a bygone age, offered fully serviced running strong.

I think this is an 18th-century case converted in the Victorian age to Fusee but my god what a great job Charles made of it.

The Case

The case is in solid brass and stands 42cm high x 17cm wide with a depth of 18cm it is in very good original condition with a cast bell at the top and scroll work around the face and dolphins across the top the work is of top quality a very nice heavy striking clock with the solid strike hammer.

The Dial

The dial is in good condition with a brass silvered chapter ring with engraved black Roman numerals housed within it with a scrolled mask, the clock also retains its original steel handmade ornate hands.

The Movement

The movement is an eight-day time and strike, which strikes the hours on each hour on the bell to the top a nice crisp sound, the movement has been fully restored with new springs then serviced and oiled so keeping a great time over the eight days via the original pendulum.

The movement is a thick-plated brass movement running via twin fusee and the original chains all fully restored and serviced it is simply a stunning thick-plated movement

Overall a very beautiful heavy large quality lantern clock by a quality maker that looks stunning on display and contains all of its original features this is quite a rare find these days.

Will post worldwide.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
