Description

A most attractive late 18th Cent longcase clock with a rocking ship automaton to the arch. The dial is signed for Abrahams. There was a B Abraham who is listed as working in Yeovil untill 1797 when he was succeded by his wife Elizabeth.

The case is in nicely figured oak with lots of mahogany cross banding and mahogany veneer to the hood. The trunk and hood have fan inlays. The trunk door has a working lock and key.

The nice quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a smart painted dial with floral spandrels and a very smart rocking ship to the arch This rocks in time with the swing of the pendulum.

The case is in good condition but does have the inevitable minor signes of use and ware.

The movement is in good working order and keeping good time.
