Cross Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The lovely quality case is in nicely figured mahogany. It has a long trunk door flanked by quarter reeded columns with brass capitals. The trunk door has a lock and working key. The panelled base has its original ogee bracket feet. The hood also has reeded columns with brass capitals beneath a swan neck pediment with brass patria.

The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell. It has a smart painted dial with a centre date hand and displays the phases of the moon to the arch. The height given excludes the centre finial, this adds 8cm.

The movement is in good working order and keeping good time.
The case is also in good condition and is a lovely colour.
