The plain oak case is a lovely colour with a long trunk door, brass escutcheon to the working lock and a moulding separating the trunk from the plain base standing on bracket feet. The hood has oak pillars finished with brass capitals, inspection windows to both sides, quarter capitals to the rear of each side and a swan neck top inlaid with boxwood. The swan neck top is surmounted by three brass ball and spire finials.

The eight day, rack-striking anchor escapement movement has just been serviced and strikes the hours on a very pleasing bell. The restored 12 inch arched brass dial has a matted centre and silvered chapter ring, seconds ring and date wheel (all working) and cast spandrels to each corner with a silvered cartouche within the arch displaying the maker's name and town - John Mill, Montrose. The dial is complimented by the original blued hands and the clock comes with my three year guarantee.
