Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Glass car mascots were popularised during the 1920s Art Deco era as luxury hood ornaments for automobiles. Rene Lalique produced twenty-nine distinct commercial mascot designs between 1925 and 1931, designed to be illuminated from underneath by radiator cap lighting mounts.

Opalescent glass was produced by introducing specific chemical compounds, such as bone ash or fluorides, into the glass batch alongside controlled cooling cycles. This differential cooling caused phase separation within the glass, resulting in light refraction that produces a translucent blue and milky hue.

Authentic period mascots feature molded or wheel-cut signatures reading R. LALIQUE or R. LALIQUE FRANCE. Collectors also examine the precise moulding detail, glass density, correct dimensions, and hand-finished polished surfaces characteristic of pre-1945 production.

A glass mascot can be displayed on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or side table, ideally elevated on a base. Positioning the object near natural light or ambient lamp lighting highlights the translucent and optical qualities of the opalescent glass.

Clean the glass using warm water and mild soap with a non-abrasive microfibre cloth. Avoid thermal shock, extreme temperatures, harsh chemical solvents, or abrasive polishes that could damage or scratch the glass surface.
