Victorian 4 Glass Mantle Clock

19th century
Description

Circa 1880. A late Victorian French four glass mantel clock. The solid brass top and case with rounded corners and a simple moulded fore edge, all the bevel edge glass sides are supported on brass uprights with a full length hinged door to the back and the front. The two part face in enamel with Roman numerals and visible escapement, with hand cut steel hands and two winding holes. The clock has an elegant and patent actioned pendulum with two vials with mercury, beneath the glass sides there is an ogee moulding and the whole piece stands on an enclosed brass plinth. The clock has recently been serviced and is working perfectly.
