Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Royal Worcester painted fruit ceramics feature highly detailed still-life compositions of apples, pears, berries, and grapes. Renowned factory artists painted these subjects on fine bone china or porcelain, typically framed by hand-applied gilding and rich ground colours.

These decorative vessels were constructed from fine porcelain or bone china, kiln-fired multiple times to set both the base glazes and intricate hand-painted enamels. The gilding was applied using liquid gold suspensions, which were then fired and hand-burnished to achieve a lustrous finish.

Authentic items feature the official printed or impressed factory mark on the base, often incorporating a system of dots or date codes that specify the exact year of production. Additionally, major painted pieces frequently bear the hand-painted signature of the specific decorating artist near the foot or within the artwork panel.

Positioning a painted porcelain urn on a mahogany sideboard, marble mantelpiece, or console table creates a refined focal point. Balancing the rich colours and gilt decoration with neutral wall backdrops and contemporary lighting allows the classical form to integrate into modern space.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth or a soft-bristled brush around raised gilt areas. Avoid chemical cleaners, abrasive sponges, and total immersion in water, as moisture and harsh detergents can degrade gilded highlights and overglaze enamel painting.
