Late 19th Century French ‘Strike-repeating’ Brass Carriage Clock by Alfred Drocourt

Description

A good late 19th century French ‘strike-repeating’ brass Carriage clock by the famous Parisian clockmaker Alfred Drocourt.

This example is in a ‘Corniche’ style case. The 8-day movement retains its original platform lever escapement and strikes hours and half-hours on a coiled-gong, repeating the last hour at will by depressing the button on top.

The enamel dial is undamaged with roman numerals, diamond quarter markers and dot 5-minute markers with classic blued-steel moon-hands. The four bevelled-glass side panels are all undamaged, as is the bevelled glass oval panel to the top. Sold in full working order with key (key not original). Serial No: 19726.

Signed to the back-plate (middle-left-edge)
